Facundo Cordero Scores on debut for Glasgow Warriors

Facundo Cordero scored on debut for the Glasgow Warriors on Saturday. The 25-year-old Argentine winger touched down in the try zone in the 69th minute. The try was in a dominant performance; the Glasgow Warriors were 40-7 winners over the Dragons in a United Rugby Championship (URC) match.

From Regatas Bella Vista club in Buenos Aires, Facundo Cordero went through the Argentine junior system. He played for Los Ceibos in the inaugural Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) season in 2020. He then moved north to the Exeter Chiefs in the English Premiership where he played from 2020-2023.

Facundo Cordero is the younger brother of Santiago Cordero who has 50 caps for Los Pumas. He was a star at Rugby World Cup 2015 and has excelled for Bordeaux in France and the Exeter Chiefs in England. He is recovering from injury before debuting for Connacht in the URC.

The younger of the brothers made his test debut for Argentina in 2021. He was a first-half replacement for Mateo Carreras against Ireland. The unhappy match for Los Pumas saw on forward yellow carded and another red carded. Argentina will again face Ireland in Dublin in November 2024.
