Hat tricks for two on record-setting Women’s Premiership day

Two North American internationals scored hat-tricks on what was a record-setting Saturday in the Women’s Premiership. Eagles hooker Kathryn Treder touched down three times for Loughborough in front of 1,708 fans at Franklin’s Gardens, while Canadian prop McKinley Hunt matched that feat with 3,071 watching Saracens at StoneX Stadium. Both attendances were match day club records.

Treder has established herself as the first choice No2 for the Lightning since arriving in the fall. The Northampton-linked side fell to Leicester on the weekend but remain mid-table in 5th place halfway through the campaign. Fellow USA internationals Hallie Taufo’ou and Bulou Mataitoga are also at the club, along with Canadian duo Abby Duguid and Sara Svoboda.

Hunt missed the first half of the season after transferring from Exeter, but is now the top loosehead for Saracens. This weekend’s win over Harlequins keeps them in top spot on the ladder, just one point ahead of Gloucester-Hartpury. Canada also provides Maya Montiel, Emma Taylor, Sophie de Goede, and Paige Farries to the club with Eagles winger Lotte Clapp a long-time fixture on the wing.
