Argentina in Challenging Group for 2024 World Rugby u20 Championship

World Rugby has confirmed the pools for the 2024 u20 Championship. Argentina will compete in Pool C against England, Fiji and hosts South Africa. The tournament will take place from June 29 to July 19 in Cape Town and Stellenbosch.

Los Pumitas will be one of twelve competing teams. France, New Zealand, Spain and Wales will compete in Pool A while Pool B will consist of Australia, Georgia, Ireland, and Italy. Spain are the tournament debutants.

Spain qualified by winning promotion from the World Rugby u20 Trophy. The Spanish did so by defeating Uruguay in a remarkable match. Uruguay reached the final by defeating Scotland. The Scots are missing from the tournament in South Africa but will host the u20 Trophy which will include Uruguay and either Canada or the USA.

2024 marks the first time ever that the host country is repeated from the prior year. South Africa finished third at home in the 2023 edition of the competition. The tournament prior to that was hosted by Argentina in 2019.
