San Diego Secures New Zealand vs Fiji Test Match in July

San Diego, California has secured a test match in July. It will be contested between New Zealand and Fiji. Both teams were competitive at Rugby World Cup 2023 with the All Blacks reaching the Final and the Flying Fijians upsetting Australia en route to reaching the Quarter Finals.

New Zealand will play host to England in a two-match series before traveling to California. Fiji’s international schedule is yet to be finalized. There is a match against the Barbarians confirmed for June 22 in London, UK.

San Diego will be a return venue for the All Blacks. New Zealand previously played a test match in the Californian city in 1980 against the USA Eagles.

New Zealand and Fiji have previously played each other in seven capped test matches. The first was at the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987. The most recent fixtures were a two-match series in New Zealand in 2021.

The New Zealand vs Fiji match in San Diego will take place two weeks before the 2024 Major League Rugby (MLR) Championship Final. The MLR Final will also be played at Snapdragon Stadium. It be take place two weeks after the All Blacks vs Flying Fijians test match.
