Selknam sign four Argentines for Super Rugby Americas 2024

Selknam are yet to finalize the team roster for Super Rugby Americas 2024. The upcoming announcement will come with the inclusion of Argentines. The Chilean franchise has recruited four Argentines for the new season.

The signings are names well known to Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) and Super Rugby Americas spectators. Scrum-half Rafael Iriarte has joined Selknam. Iriarte is a former SLAR champions with Los Jaguares. He played for Los Pampas in 2023 as did winger Iñaki Delguy who joins him now in Santiago.

Second-rower Federico Albrisi makes the move from Los Dogos. He is the one forward recruited to Chile from Argentina. The fourth name is a player returning to Super Rugby Americas. Fly half Nicolás Róger helped Peñarol defeat Selknam in the SLAR 2022 Final. He is back in Super Rugby Americas after having played in Italy for CUS Torino.

The recruitment of the four Argentines comes with notable Chilean names having signed for overseas teams. Fullback Santiago Videla has joined the Miami Sharks) in Major League Rugby (MLR) while center Domingo Saavedra and hooker Augusto Bohme will be teammates for NOLA Gold.

Prop Vittorio Lastra and fly half Rodrigo Fernández now play in Italy for Rovigo and Petrarca Padova respectively. Scrum-half Nicolás Herreros is now playing for Agronomia in Portugal.
