Old Glory DC Sign Argentine Martín Vaca

Old Glory DC have added another Argentine player for Major League Rugby (MLR) 2024. Argentine Martin Vaca has signed for the club. He will move to the USA following prior professional experiences in both France and playing in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR), now Super Rugby Americas.

Vaca joins Uruguayan Facundo Gattas and USA Falcon Koikoi Nelligan as Old Glory DC hookers for MLR 2024. In addition to Gattas, fellow Uruguayan Ignacio Dotti will also be on the roster. Additional South American players are Argentina XV flanker Lautaro Bavaria and Los Pumas 7’s Axel Müller.

Vaca moves to Old Glory DC following two seasons playing for Narbonne. He previously was a part of the Jaguares XV side that were undefeated in becoming SLAR champions. Vaca made the move from there to France. He also earned national honors, playing for Los Pumitas.

The 22-year-old was one of there hookers on the 2021 Jaguares XV roster. The others are now also professionals playing abroad. Bautista Bernasconi plays for Benetton in the United Rugby Championship (URC) and Ignacio Ruiz plays for Perpignan in the Top 14. Ruiz featured for Argentina at the World Cup.

Vaca is a product of Jockey Club Villa Maria. He went through the regional system including at Córdoba’s High Performance Center.
