Canada call up Coats and Creighton for Spain tour

Canada have been forced to make two changes to their traveling squad for their tour of Spain. Dropping out are hooker Dewald Kotze and fullback Ciaran Breen. Taking their place are uncapped Austin Creighton and Cooper Coats respectively.

Both Kotze, 26, and Breen, 22, were in contention to make their test debuts. Each play in Major League Rugby, Kotze with the Dallas Jackals and Breen with the Toronto Arrows. Rugby Canada did not specify why the two were now unavailable to travel.

Creighton is 23 years old and plays for the Pacific Pride, Canada’s centralized development team that competes domestically in the BC Premier League. Coats, 27, has 9 test caps and is currently a member of the Canada Sevens program though he is not with the team competing in the Pan Am Games.
