Argentina Rugby Fixtures 2024

Argentina will play twelve rugby test matches in 2024. This is the same number as in 2021, 2022 and in 2023. As in the tears outside of Rugby World Cups the fixtures will come in three varieties: (i) July Internationals, (ii) Rugby Championship and (iii) November Internationals.

July will begin with Argentina playing three matches. Two are confirmed to be in Argentina against Les Bleus. France will play test matches in Argentina on July 06 and 13, 2024. The series will be followed by Argentina playing against a Tier 2 opponent on July 20.

The Tier 2 opponent will be an away test match against Uruguay. There had been suggestions of Argentina playing a home match against a Tier 2 competitor from Rugby World Cup 2023. Argentina faced Tier 2 opponents Romania and Spain away in between Rugby World Cups 2019 and 2023. Los Pumas are yet to play away against Georgia but hosted test matches against the Eastern Europeans in the 2010’s.

The 2024 Rugby Championship will be played from August 10 to September 28. The format will follow that of 2022 but with a change in match order. Argentina will open on the road, facing the All Blacks twice in New Zealand. South Africa, meanwhile, will face the Wallabies twice in Australia.

Rounds three and four will see Argentina at home against Australia twice and again in round five against South Africa. Los Pumas will play both matches against the All Blacks in New Zealand.

Argentina will open away against the All Blacks. The two Rugby World Cup 2023 re-matches will be played in Auckland and Wellington. Argentina’s three home Rugby Championship matches will follow. Los Pumas will face Australia in La Plata and Santa Fé and take-on the World Champions, South Africa, in Santiago del Estero. South Africa will play host to Argentina in Nelspruit in the final match of the tournament.

Both Santa Fé and Santiago del Estero are newcomers to the Rugby Championship. Neither has previously hosted a match in prior tournaments. Santa Fé most recently hosted international rugby in 2018 with Argentina vs Wales while Santiago del Estero hosted the series decider between Argentina and Scotland in 2022.

The Rugby Championship remains a four team tournament, though this is not likely to be the case for much longer. Moves for Fiji to join the tournament have occurred but are looking like being in 2026 with Japan also entering at that point in time.

Argentina’s November Internationals will be a three-match-tour of Europe. Los Pumas will not play a match in the UK. Rather, Argentina will take-on Italy, Ireland and France. Match dates are November 09, 15 and 23.

The matches against Uruguay and Italy will be historic. Italy are now to be coached by Gonzalo Quesada. The former Puma played in two Rugby World Cups and was the highest point scorer in the 1999 edition. He is to coach Italy against his homeland. Uruguay’s new coach is Rodolfo Ambrosio. He was the first Argentine to play for Italy. He debuted in 1987.
