Men’s Eagles name traveling squad for Spain trip

Scott Lawrence has selected a traveling squad of 29 players for their two-match trip to Spain. The Men’s Eagles will play against Brazil on November 11 and either Canada or their hosts one week later.

Three uncapped players have been included. Utah flanker Bailey Wilson and his clubmate Joe Mano, a winger, along with SaberCats flyhalf or fullback Line Latu. Wilson and Latu each toured Europe in August but did not appear in the test series.

Several players will miss out on the series due to injury, including captain AJ MacGinty, Cheetahs scrumhalf Ruben de Haas, and Warriors midfielder Paul Lasike. Stand-in skipper Greg Peterson will stay with Glasgow Warriors while veteran tighthead prop Paul Mullen is also unavailable.

Making the trip after missing out on Europe are Toulouse prop David Ainu’u, Houston lock Siaosi Mahoni, and Chicago pair Michael Baska and Bryce Campbell. Ainu’u is one of three European professionals named, along with Coventry flanker Paddy Ryan and Zebre midfielder Tommaso Boni.
