The Hounds have locked in their captain for another campaign. Bryce Campbell has re-signed with Chicago with eyes set squarely on a more competitive season than their inaugural run in 2023.
Campbell played every game for the Hounds this past season, starting all but two and playing the most minutes of anyone on the team. Though preferred at No12 with Austin, the US Eagles veteran lined up at outside center for Chicago following the arrival of Billy Meakes.
Make it three more years with the Legion for Christian Poidevin. The tireless flanker had a superb season for the 2023 Finalists despite missing six games with injury. Though born and raised in Australia, Poidevin is US-qualified through his mother and the new long-term deal suggests he could make himself available to the Eagles sooner rather than later.
Departing the nation’s capital for the mountains of Utah is Nic Souchon. The 26-year-old New Zealander started all but one game at No2 for Old Glory in 2023 and now looks to be the replacement for countryman Henry Bell, who has signed a Super Rugby deal with the Highlanders. Souchon returned home in the off-season and played a handful of games for Southland in the NPC.
New England have found their replacement for Mike Rogers, the Assistant Coach who has now taken up a lead role with Manawatu. Joining the defending champs from Australia is Pom Simona, former loose forward who was in charge of elite pathways at Melbourne Rebels and also coached defense for the Super Rugby side. The 44-year-old was born in Samoa and raised in New Zealand before playing professionally with Melbourne Rising in Australia’s National Championship.
Miami have confirmed the earlier news that Welsh internationals Rob Evans and Kirby Myhill would be joining the club. Both are 31 years old and ply their trade in the front row – Evans as a loosehead prop and Myhill at hooker. Evans played 39 times for Wales while Myhill was capped once.
