Kévin Rouet has named his squad of 30 players to represent Canada at the inaugural WXV tournament in New Zealand. Four travelers to England are left out with two names added.
Recalled to the squad are loosehead prop Brittany Kassil and flyhalf Julia Schell. Both were part of last year’s World Cup squad. The duo replace the Olivia DeMerchant and Taylor Perry on the roster.
Also dropping out of the squad are flanker Caroline Crossley and winger Magali Harvey. Crossley did not appear in the series against England while Harvey came on as a replacement late in the first test.
The quartet are among nine non-traveling reserves identified. Forwards Abby Duguid (lock), Emma Taylor (lock/flanker), and Lizzie Gibson (flanker) are on the list as well as backs Corinne Fréchette (scrumhalf) and Mahalia Robinson (fullback).
Six players are listed as unavailable, four of them World Cup selects. That list includes Maya Montiel (loosehead prop), Cassandra Tuffnail (tighthead prop), Pamphinette Buisa (flanker), Karen Paquin (flanker), Brianna Miller (scrumhalf), and Sara Kaljuvee (center).
Canada will play against Wales, England, and France on successive weekends beginning on October 21st. The host cities will be Wellington, Dunedin, and Auckland.
