Dotti returns to MLR with DC, Gattas re-signs

Ignacio Dotti will return to Major League Rugby in 2024 but it will be the Old Glory DC jersey he puts on, and not that of the NOLA Gold. The Uruguayan second row joins front rower Facundo Gattas in the nation’s capital, the latter signing a two-year extension with the club. Both players are currently playing for Los Teros at the World Cup.

Dotti was a standout at lock or blindside flanker for the Gold from 2019 through 2022. He moved home to Montevideo this past year and suited up for Peñarol in Rugby Rugby Americas. The 29-year-old was in the engine room for the Championship Final victory over Argentine outfit Dogos.

This will be the third season for Gattas with DC. Injury limited him to just two games in 2022, but he was a regular in the match day squad this past year. While also capable of playing loosehead prop, the 28-year-old was primarily Old Glory’s reserve hooker behind Nic Souchon in 2023.
