Chile XV Get the Win Over Colombia in South American Four Nations

The Chile XV ended the 2023 South American Four Nations with a win. The Chilean next-of-XV got the win against Colombia in Asunción, Paraguay on Sunday. The Chileans were 57-19 winners in a performance wherein they scored nine tries while conceding three.

Jorge Delgado was the first man to score. The hooker’s try was followed by scores by flanker Santiago Edwards and N8 Inti Ubeda in the first-half. Felipe Méndez kicked with mixed accuracy as he landed 4/7 conversions in the match before being replaced.

The Chileans were the better team and the discipline of Colombia was also not helping Los Tucanes‘ cause. Double trouble saw N8 Juan Camilo Pacheco and Diver Ceballos both red carded. Pacheco was red carded in the 28th minute and Ceballos in the 43rd.

The second of the two incidents saw Colombian players notably frustrated. They were down to thirteen men for the duration of the contest. Despite being outnumbers the Colombians did score twice. They did so after Daniel Villa had scored their first try before the cards.

The Chile XV used the extra space to their advantage. Center Pablo Casas ran in a doble while Santiago Edwards added to his earlier try. Ernesto Tchimino and replacement Diego Warnken and captain Luca Strabucchi also all scored.

The result of the match sees the Chile XV finishing the tournament in third position and Colombia bottom. The winless Colombians are in the position of requiring High Performance investments as Paraguay have overtaken them and left them behind to now be Brazil’s level.
