Bristol Bears sign Puma Santiago Grondona

Santiago Grondona has secured his professional playing future. The Puma has signed for the Bristol Bears. It marks a return to England. Grondona played for the Exeter Chiefs before transferring to play for Pau in the Top 14 in early 2023.

Grondona made eight appearances for Pau, scoring two tries. He played mostly in the second-row for the French club. His natural postion is flanker and this is where he plays for Los Pumas.

The move comes following Argentina’s win over Australia in Sydney. Grondona started at flanker and made ten tackles in the win. Juan Martín González scored the match-winning try. He has since also changed English clubs. He has signed for Saracens from London Irish.

In addition to beating Australia, Grondona has also previously beaten New Zealand. He was a replacement in the win over the All Blacks in Christchurch in 2022.

Grondona has 12 caps for Argentina. He will earn his 13th against South Africa on Saturday. The 24-year-old is a product of Champagnat club in Buenos Aires. Grondona’s professional clubs now include Los Jaguares, Newcastle Falcons, Exeter Chiefs, Pau, and Bristol Bears.
