Northland sign Brazilian Wilton Rebolo

In a historic move, Northland have signed Wilton Rebolo. The Brazilian will be the first ever from his country to play in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship (NPC). Rebolo joins during the Super Rugby offseason; he played Super Rugby Pacific 2023 for the Western Force.

Rebolo will return to Australia to play for the Western Force in Super Rugby Pacific 2024. The 28-year-old front-rower is a native of Catanduva in São Paulo state.

The Brazilian has also previously played Major League Rugby (MLR). Rebolo played for New York in MLR 2022. His career began in his hometown of Catanduva. He played for the local club that goes by the city name and the team plays as the Mastodontes. Rebolo also previously played for São Paulo teams SPAC, Band Saracens, and Pasteur as well as for São José.

The NPC is a nationwide competition featuring fourteen teams. Northland is the northern most team in the competition. The 2023 NPC will run from August 04 to October 20. Rebolo will play for the team for the duration of the competition.
