Chile XV victorious against California Grizzlies

The Chile XV were 47-22 winners on Wednesday. The national next-of-XV won the first of three matches against the touring California Grizzlies. The match was played behind closed doors in Santiago.

Played in four quarters oft went minutes each, the Chile XV were able to put together some quality rugby. Gonzalo Lara scored two tries for the Chileans while Tomás Alvarado, Luca Strabucchi, Martin Dumay, and Cristóbal Martínez also each touched down. The Chile XV was also awarded a penalty try.

The Chile XV scored additional points through goal-kicking. Tomás Salas slotted three conversions while Diego Warnken and Martín Escobar both landed one. The California Grizzlies scored their points with tries to Daelan Denenberg and Inoke Waqavesi Jr as well as a penalty to Maxime Rieuf and  Lucas Green landed a conversion.

The California Grizzlies are a High Performance academy side based in San Francisco. The side is made-up of players from universities throughout the state of California.
