Argentina to face Italy in 2024

Argentina will face Italy in 2024. Los Pumas have a date locked-in to face the Azzurri as part of the 2024 Autumn Nations Series. Italy will play three home matches with the first of which being against Argentina.

The match will be special for Los Pumas; it will be the first match against Italy with Gonzalo Quesada in charge. The former Pumas fly half will take up the role of Italian Head Coach following Rugby World Cup 2023. Quesada coached the core of Los Pumas in Super Rugby.

Italy’s November 2024 home matches will be on November 09 against Argentina, November 16 against a Tier 2 opponent and in a yet to be finalized date against New Zealand. Venues for the three fixtures are yet to be confirmed.

Italy’s home match against Argentina will be the 24th meeting between the teams. The first test match was in 1978 with Italy winning 19-6 in Rovigo. The most recent match was a 37-16 Pumas win in Treviso in 2021. Argentina have 17 wins and Italy 5. Italy’s last win was by 13-12 in 2008.

Italy’s 2024 will begin with the Six Nations. The tournament will be the beginning of the Quesada era. Italy open against England in Rome on February 03. The Italians’ other home match will be against Scotland on March 09.

Argentina’s post RWC 2023 era will begin at home in July 2024. Los Pumas will play host to France on July 06 and July 13. Italy will also be playing in the Americas in July 2024. The Azzurri are scheduled to tour North America. Matches will see Italy face both Canada and the USA in away matches.
