Uruguay World Cup Jerseys come with Yellow Surprise

Uruguay’s playing strip for Rugby World Cup 2023 is ready. Los Teros have two jerseys, one of which will introduce viewers to Uruguay playing in a new color.

Uruguay’s primary jersey will be the traditional light sky blue. This is a continuation from past Rugby World Cups. What has changed is the alternative strip. Los Teros played in white against Australia at Rugby World Cup 2015 in Birmingham, England and again at Rugby World Cup 2019 in Oita, Japan.

Changes from World Rugby will see many teams playing with new-look colors. Australia, for instance will wear white in their match against Portugal. World Rugby are seeking to avoid clashes for color-blind viewers.

Los Teros’ main strip for Rugby World Cup 2023 will be yellow. The color yellow will represent the sun on the Uruguayan flag. The biggest surprise of all, however, is that Uruguay will play in their traditional light sky blue shirt in only one match.

Uruguay will open their World Cup campaign against France in Lille. They will do so playing in yellow. Los Teros will also play in yellow against Italy in Nice and against Namibia in Lyon. The South Americans will play in their traditional colors for the fourth, and final, pool match which will be against New Zealand in Lyon.

The jerseys will be manufactured by Flash. This marks a change from past Rugby World Cups. Flash has been used by Uruguay in the years since RWC 2019. Flash is also the manufacturer of Peñarol’s uniforms in Super Rugby Americas.

Uruguay will prepare for Rugby World Cup 2023 with three warm-up matches. All will be played at home in Montevideo. Los Teros’ on-field preparations star on July 29 against Chile. Before then, Uruguay will prepare physically and tactically. The players will come together in late June. They will have a month together before facing Los Cóndores.
