The Newcastle Falcons have signed Eduardo Bello from English Premiership rivals Saracens. Bello has signed a two-year contract with the team from Northern England. The move sees the Newcastle Falcons and Los Pumas nexus expanding further.
The nexus of the Newcastle Falcons and Argentina is large. Bello is the fifth Argentine test player on the Newcastle Falcons roster for next season. Bello joins winger Mateo Carreras, outside center Matias Moroni, inside center Matias Orlando and flanker Pedro Rubiolo.
Bello had limited game time this past season at Saracens. Before playing for the London club, Bello was a busy man in the United Rugby Championship (URC). He joined Zebre from Argentina in 2017. He went on to make more than 80 appearances for the Italian side.
He moved from Zebre to Saracens and now moves to the Newcastle Falcons at the age of 27. He does so with nine test caps to his name. He is well-placed to make Argentina’s roster for Rugby World Cup 2023.
Bello made his test debut against Australia in the 2021 Rugby Championship. He played three tests in 2021 and six in 2022. Among the 2022 caps were two monumental results. Bello featured in Argentina’s historic win over New Zealand in Christchurch. He came on to get through a heavy work-load. Bello made 13 tackles despite only entering the match in the 53rd minute. Bello also featured in Argentina’s win over England in London in November 2022.
Bello is a product of San Martín de Villa María in Córdoba. The province produced a number of Pumas now playing for elite teams. Some instances are Enrique Pieretto (Glasgow Warriors), Matías Alemanno (Gloucester), Joaquín Oviedo (Perpignan), Juan Cruz Mallía (Toulouse), and Santiago Carreras (Gloucester).
