USA Eagles to play Toulouse in September

The USA Eagles have been booked for a friendly against Top 14 giants Toulouse on Sunday, September 17th. It will be played at America First Field in Salt Lake City, as part of a strategic alignment between the French club and the Utah Warriors of Major League Rugby. The agreement with the Warriors was announced in January. This will be the first event under the ‘Rugby Alliance’ banner.

Toulouse will spend a total of three weeks in Utah while Japan uses their home facilities in France during the Rugby World Cup. Current Eagles prop David Ainu’u is a regular starter for the club, while USA u20 back row Braemar Murray is part of their academy program.

The match sits in between two test windows that the USA will be participating in. August will see the Eagles touring Europe for matches against Romania, Portugal, and Georgia. They are then set to return to Europe in November for a series against Brazil, Canada, and host nation Spain.

America First Field is currently the home of professional soccer clubs Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC. It has a capacity of 20,000 and features a grass surface. Previously known as Rio Tinto Stadium, it was the site of Utah’s first two exhibition games ahead of the inaugural 2018 MLR season.

Tickets for the September 17 match are available online.
