Two More Interested in Hosting Rugby World Cup 2035

Before three other Men’s Rugby World Cup tournaments take place there is confirmed interest in hosting Rugby World Cup 2035. The first to state the intention to bid was England. Two more countries are officially now interested in hosting Rugby World Cup 2035.

England hosted matches at Rugby World Cups 1991, 1999 and 2015. Among these where the finals in two of these tournaments. The 2015 edition was England 2015 though Wales acted as a sub-host. 1991 and 1999 were spread among the former Five Nations – England, France, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Japan 2019 followed England 2015. That tournament proved to be highly successful and Japan already want to host another Rugby World Cup. The Japan Rugby Football Union confirmed that it is aiming to host Rugby World Cup 2035 and the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2037.

Italy is also officially interested. Italy confirmed it wishes to host Euro 2032 and Rugby World Cup 2035. Also, like Japan, Italy Rugby will be bidding to host the 2037 Women’s Rugby World Cup. Italy has never hosted a Rugby World Cup match. The Italians bid against England, Japan and South Africa for Rugby World Cups 2015 and 2019.

Italy’s bid comes after having watched neighboring France host Rugby World Cup 2007 plus have a part in hosting Rugby World Cups 1991 and 1999. Rugby World Cup 2023 is again to be in France. It will be followed by Australia hosting Rugby World Cup 2027. Australia hosted Rugby World Cup 2003 alone and co-hosted Rugby World Cup 1987. The USA will host Rugby World Cup 2031.
