Chile Rugby has confirmed significant increases in investments. They come on the back of rapid transformation. Los Cóndores upcoming debut at the Rugby World Cup has brought with it unprecedented attention and investments.
More than $900 million Chilean Pesos will be invested in the project by the Chilean National Sports Institution, Instituto Nacional de Deportes de Chile (IND). The project will be completed before September. Chile will debut against Japan at the World Cup on September 10 in Toulouse.
The foothills of the Andes will be the location of the High Performance Center. Parque Mahuida will be completely remodeled to meet World Rugby standards. The playing surface will be entirely reformed with the installation of synthetic grass complete with a shock pad. It will be of the highest standards and will cover a total area of 10,764 square meters.
The new infrastructure will be installed complete with an automatic irrigation system. It will operate through sprinklers which are designed to prolong the lifespan of the playing surface.
The investments ensure Chile’s continued progress in the longterm. September 30 will be a day of celebration for South American rugby. It will mark the first ever Rugby World Cup match between two South American countries. Chile will face giants Argentina in Nantes.
