Women’s Eagles through to Vancouver Semi Finals

The USA have reached the final four of the women’s draw at the Vancouver Sevens. It’s the fifth consecutive World Sevens Series stop that they have reached those heights, with top-three finishes in each of the four tournaments played this season.

Two tries from Naya Tapper led the Eagles past Ireland to cap an unbeaten Pool C run. Great Britain were next in the Quarter Finals, with Alev Kelter’s double a highlight in a dominant victory. It sets up a clash against Australia, with France taking on New Zealand in the other Semi Final.

Canada outclassed Brazil to reach the Quarter Finals for the second time this season. After trailing 10-0 at halftime to New Zealand, the Canadians fought back to come within one score but couldn’t quite finish it off and will now play Ireland in the 5th place Semi Final.

Brazil and Colombia suffered defeats in each of their two matches on Day Two. They will now play each other with the winner claiming 11th spot and the loser resigned to the bottom of the table.
