Chile 7’s ready with big names for Los Angeles and Vancouver

Chile is ready for the Los Angeles 7’s and Vancouver 7’s competitions. The upcoming stages of the Sevens World Series will see Chile fielding a strong roster. Regular test scrum-half Marcelo Torrealba leads a team in which he is joined by other Selknam players.

Torrealba was heavily involved in Chile’s Rugby World Cup 2023 qualifiers. He is expected to feature for his country at the World Cup later on this year in France. His involvement in 7’s is strategic; it will help him and others prepare for the ultimate challenge while also enabling others game-time in Super Rugby Americas.

In addition to Torrealba, the Chilean 7’s side contains Luca Avelli, Ernesto Tchimino, Clemente Armstrong and Luca Strabucchi. All are very much in the frame for the World Cup.

The Los Angeles Sevens will be played from February 25-26. The Vancouver Sevens will follow. It takes place from March 03-05. Chile join Argentina, Uruguay, Canada and the USA as the Americas’s Men’s competitors.

Chile will face the USA in their group in Los Angeles. The group also contains New Zealand and Samoa, making it an all-Pacific group of sorts.
