Super Rugby Americas 2023 – Dogos – ARN Season Guide

Newcomers to the professional arena, Dogos are to be one of two Argentine teams in Super Rugby Americas 2023. The team are based in Córdoba, Argentina’s second largest city. The team is heavily based on local talent and comes in contrast to that of Buenos Aires’ Pampas.

COACHING STAFF
Nicolás Galatro is in charge of Dogos. He was Head Coach of Los Cafeteros Pro in 2022. Galatro is a former professional rugby player. The native of Rosario played for Duendes and Olivos and in Italy for Petraca and Catania. He is married to Bárbara Imhoff, the brother of Pumas winger Juan Imhoff. At the age of 40 he took charge of the High Performance Center in Rosario.

 


RECRUITMENT
The team is new but features some familiar names from SLAR. Jaguares XV names include Agustín Segura, Aitor Bildosola, and Santiago Pulella. They are accompanied by some genuine young talent ready to explode in Super Rugby Americas. Mateo Soler has impressed at the age grade level while a lot of attention will also be on Felipe Mallía.

 


IMPORTS
The team is entirely homegrown. All players are Argentine. All were born in Argentina and all are products of the Argentine rugby system. The roster contains players who have joined from other teams. Captain Franco Molina is back in Argentina having played for Selknam in 2022. Julián Hernández was a stand-out at fly half for Los Cafeteros Pro while Juan Mernes, Ignacio Gandini and Franco Giudice are also noteworthy arrivals from other foreign SLAR teams.
