Paraguay’s Yacare add three Colombians for Super Rugby Americas

Final adjustments to the roster for Super Rugby Americas 2023 see more Colombians involved. Paraguayan side Yacare is to have three players from Colombian on their roster. They are to be Juan Davíd Agudelo, José Gálvez and Juan Pacheco. The trio are all capped by Colombia.

With Colombia not having a team in Super Rugby Americas 2023, there has been a movement of players to other teams. Three Super Rugby Americas teams will have Colombians on their rosters. Brazil’s Cobras includes flanker Diver Ceballos and winger Alain Altahona while tight-head prop Aldair Marquez and winger Arley Urrutia will defend the colors of the Americas Raptors.

Agudelo, Pacheco, and Gálvez are well known to Paraguay. Agudelo and Pacheco started for Colombia against Paraguay in Barranquilla in the 2022 Tri Nations. Gálvez was absent from the match but was involved for Los Cafeteros Pro in SLAR 2022.

José Gálvez and Juan Pacheco are back-row forwards. Gálvez is typically used on the side of the scrum while Pacheco features at N8. Juan David Agudelo’s position is outside center.

The addition of Agudelo, Gálvez, and Pacheco sees the Yacare obtaining players rather than American Raptors. This finalizes player movement ahead of the start of Super Rugby Americas 2023.

The season opener will feature Yacare. The Paraguayan side travel to Córdoba, Argentina to face Los Dogos at Tala RC. Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm local time. Additional opening round matches see the American Raptors face Selknam in Santiago, Chile and Los Pampas taking-on Os Cobras in São Paulo, Brazil.
