San Diego re-signs veteran prop Chris Baumann

The San Diego Legion have re-signed Chris Baumann for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. It’s the third campaign in SoCal for the 35-year-old tighthead prop, who fills an immediate gap left by the decision of Australian international Paddy Ryan to remain in Japan rather than re-join the Legion.

Baumann was an integral part of the side last season. He made 16 appearances, including one start, and missed just one game. A 2015 World Cup select, Baumann was a surprise selection to the USA Falcons squad for the tour to Montevideo followed in the off-season.

The signing restores San Diego’s compliment of four international props along with Djustice Sears-Duru, Faka’osi Pifeleti, and Nathan Sylvia. Fred Apulu joined the team from the LA Giltinis while Oliver Kane was picked from USD in the Collegiate Draft.
