Jackals sign Fijian lock Maikeli Naromaitoga

The Dallas Jackals have moved to shore up their second row stock with the addition of Maikeli Naromaitoga. Originally from Fiji, the 31-year-old has inked a three-year deal through the 2025 Major League Rugby season and joins from the Houston SaberCats.

Nicknamed the ‘Fijian Godzilla’, Naromaitoga is known for his powerful ball carrying ability. At 6’5″ (1.95m) and 270lbs (123kg) he add considerable size to the Dallas scrum. Naromaitoga was a starter for Austin in 2020 after making the mid-season move from Utah the previous season.

Lucas Bur, Charlie Hola, and Sam Golla are the other second row options for the Jackals at the moment. Naromaitoga has played for the Fiji Warriors but not in a capture match. He will be US-eligible in October of 2023, which will give him domestic status in 2024.
