Bay is the one uncapped player in the starting line-up. Four other players are set to make their test debuts as replacements. They are likely to do so as Spain is undefeated in twelve previous meetings against the Netherlands.
The 31-year-old Estanislao Bay, is also known as Tani Bay, is a product of CRAI in Santa Fé, Argentina. He has previously represented Argentina in Rugby Sevens. He makes the move to represent Spain under eligibility law changes.
It should be noted that Romania was disqualified from Rugby World Cup 2019 after it came to light that Sione Faka’osilea was never eligible. He had played Rugby Sevens for Tonga. Changes now see former World Cup players switching teams from Australia and England to Scotland while Spain was disqualified from Rugby World Cup 2023.
