Michael Baska will return to Major League Rugby after signing on with the expansion Chicago Hounds. The 28-year-old scrumhalf spent the past 18 months in the French Pro D2 with Rouen Normadie, but was granted an early release from his contract to move stateside.
Baska played 9 games for Rouen last season with 4 starts, but grew frustrated with limited opportunities at the start of the new campaign. He has previously played for the NOLA Gold and Utah Warriors in MLR. An impressive 2021 MLR campaign saw him win 3 USA caps and earn an overseas contract.
A surprise omission from the Eagles squad for the World Cup Qualifiers in Dubai, Baska will be looking to return to the international fold in 2023. He will be the first choice No9 for Chicago, with USA Falcons representative Sean Yacoubian and USA u18 select Sidney Shoop as other scrumhalf options.
