DMP Sharks sign Eagles duo Olivia Ortiz and Tess Feury

Darlington Mowden Park have announced the signings of US Eagles duo Olivia Ortiz and Tess Feury for the remainder of the 2022-23 Premier 15s season. Both were members of the USA’s squad for the World Cup in New Zealand, and join a number of their teammates in England.

This will be the first overseas club experience for Ortiz. The 25-year-old scrumhalf was a D2 Collegiate All-American with Davenport before moving to the Colorado Gray Wolves. She has 13 caps for the Eagles, including a start against Japan at the World Cup.

Feury has previously lined up for Irish club Railway Union and was due to join Wasps prior to the club’s financial collapse. The 26-year-old utility back made her Eagles debut in 2016 and now has 15 caps after starting three of the USA’s four games in New Zealand.

DMP are winless through 5 of 18 rounds and are currently at the bottom of the Premier 15s table. This will be the club’s last campaign in the top flight, at least for the time being, with the RFU confirming that the Sharks will not be in the elite division next season.
