Argentina venues finalized for Super Rugby Americas 2023

The home venues of Argentina’s two teams that will compete in Super Rugby Americas 2023 are now known. The Buenos Aires based-side, Pampas will play home matches at La Catedral in San Isidro while the Córdoba based-side, Dogos will play home matches at Tala Rugby Club in Villa Warcalde.

Both teams are new teams in the competition. Pampas replaces Los Jaguares XV, the team that won the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) in an undefeated season in 2021. Los Dogos are a new side and one with Córdoba flavor. Córdoba’s provincial side, representing the Unión Cordobesa de Rugby, that has competed in the Campeonato Argentino is Los Dogos.

Tala Rugby Club was used in SLAR 2020 as the home venue for Los Ceibos. The team played against Paraguayan opponent the Olímpia Lions before the season was cut short. La Catedral will become the first Buenos Aires venue to host SLAR / Super Rugby Americas. The venue was initially selected to host Jaguares matches in Super Rugby before moved to the bigger Vélez Sarsfield. Both venues are important locations in their respective rugby communities and larger regions.
