American Raptors sign former AG lock Christian Ostberg

The American Raptors have signed second row Christian Ostberg for their inaugural Super Rugby Americas campaign. He makes the move to Colorado after spending the past two years with the Austin Gilgronis in Major League Rugby.

A USA age-grade representative, Ostberg won senior ‘A’ honors at the 2016 Americas Pacific Challenge. Injuries have blighted his professional career but this past season the 28-year-old managed 14 appearances including 7 starts before being felled by a lower leg injury against San Diego.

Now fully recovered, Ostberg will hope the change of scenery will reinvigorate his international ambitions. The 6’6″ (1.98m) athlete is primarily a lock but can also play on the blindside flank. He joins Payton Telea-Ilalio and Ronan Murphy at the Raptors, with the trio opting out of the MLR Dispersal Draft.
