Chicago confirms signing of Eagles flyhalf Luke Carty

The Chicago Hounds have confirmed another strong addition to their backline for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. USA international flyhalf Luke Carty makes the move from the LA Giltinis after being selected by the expansion side in the Dispersal Draft.

Carty missed much of the 2022 MLR campaign with a pectoral injury suffered during the preseason. He returned in time to make three appearances at the tail end of the season, just enough to earn a recall to the Eagles squad for the World Cup Qualifiers in July. The 25-year-old then suited up in two of November’s Repechage matches to bring him up to 9 test caps.

Highly regarded as a kicker, Carty represented his home country of Ireland at u20 level before committing to the USA. He qualifies for the Eagles via his New York-born grandmother. Older brother Jack Carty won his 11th cap for Ireland during the 2022 Six Nations Championship.
