Eagles Sevens standout Lucas Lacamp set for injury layoff

Lucas Lacamp looks set to be sidelined for the foreseeable future after suffering a lower leg injury while playing against Fiji in last weekend’s Cape Town Sevens Quarter Final. The 21-year-old speedster will require surgical repair next week. He posted an update on social media:

“Traveled with the team back safely to San Diego. Can’t thank the players, support staff and fans enough for the support I’ve had so far, it really means a lot. Surgery coming soon and looking forward to being back out there with the boys as soon as can be!”

Lacamp has been in sterling form to start the new World Sevens Series campaign, earning a spot in Mike Friday’s starting lineup. He scored a hat-trick against Uganda in Cape Town and had seven tries through two tournaments played. No timeline for a return to play has been determined yet.
