NOLA signs former New Zealand u20 prop Sean Paranihi

NOLA Gold have signed Manawatu Turbos prop Sean Paranihi on a two-year deal through the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old tighthead specialist is the second front rower to arrive from New Zealand, following Northland loosehead Jarred Adams.

Paranihi represented his country at the 2016 World Rugby u20 Championship and made his senior provincial debut the same year with Counties Manukau. In 2017 he made the move to Manawatu and was called up to the New Zealand Māori squad for their tour against Canada and the French Barbarians though he did not make a match day appearance. A three-year hiatus from the NPC ended this year when Paranihi returned to anchor the Turbos scrum.

The Gold now boast impressive depth at prop with USA representatives Dino Waldren and Brian Nault returning at tighthead and draft pick Trent Rogers arriving. Adams joins a loosehead contingent that includes Eagles cap Matt Harmon, Kevin Sullivan, and Sam Klimkowski. The latter was a late addition last season and is yet to make his MLR debut.
