Free Jacks sign midfielder Spencer Jones from Arrows

The New England Free Jacks have Canadian international Spencer Jones for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. He is the third player to make the move from Toronto to Boston during the off-season, following front row pair Andrew Quattrin and Cole Keith.

Jones established himself as a first-choice player for the Arrows during their inaugural MLR campaign in 2019. Since then he has been plagued with injuries, and missed half of the 2022 season. When fit, the 25-year-old is most effective as a playmaking center though he can also fill in at flyhalf.

New England now boast four centers of starting quality with another former Arrow, Ben LeSage, arriving from LA and incumbent pairing Le Roux Malan and Wayne van der Bank both returning. Other options include a third Canadian international, Isaac Olson, and new Tongan signing Taniela Filimone.
