Chicago acquires scrumhalf Sean Yacoubian from New England

The Chicago Hounds have acquired scrumhalf Sean Yacoubian from the New England Free Jacks in exchange for salary cap considerations. A Saint Mary’s Gaels graduate, he has previously represented Scotland u20 before playing with the USA Selects (now Falcons) in 2021.

Yacoubian made his Major League Rugby debut with the Colorado Raptors against Utah in 2020, but would not play again before the season was cancelled. He then signed a three-year deal with New England but a combination of injury and medical issues limited him to just four appearances in two years.

The 28-year-old will look for a fresh start with the expansion side and a revival of his international ambitions. Yacoubian joins USA u18 select Sidney Shoop as scrumhalf options confirmed to be joining the Hounds thus far, with a senior international reportedly on the way.
