Carlo de Nysschen moves from Dallas to Houston

Carlo de Nysschen is staying in Texas, but it won’t be the Dallas Jackals who he plays with in 2023. The 26-year-old scrumhalf has signed on with the Houston SaberCats, his fourth Major League Rugby team having also featured for the Colorado Raptors and San Diego Legion.

This past season saw de Nysschen establishing himself as first choice in the No9 shirt for the expansion Jackals though injury limited him to 9 appearances, all starts. He captained the side once, coincidentally against the SaberCats in early April.

Originally from Pretoria, South Africa, de Nysschen is US-qualified through consecutive residency. He should join incumbent starter Dillon Smit, also South African, as primary scrumhalf options for the club in 2023. The signing suggests USA international Nick Boyer will not be with Houston next season.
