Former Eagles star Andrew Durutalo calls time on pro career

Andrew Durutalo has opted to retire from professional rugby. The 35-year-old loose forward confirmed the decision in a statement via the Seattle Seawolves.

“Great to have been part of the Seawolves journey for the past 3 seasons. Having played the sport at highest level (club & internationally) all over the world, it is the right time to look for my new adventure.

“Thank you to the fans, management, and most importantly my teammates for the memories. I wish them all the best for the upcoming season and can’t wait to see them lift the shield in 2023.”

In three Major League Rugby seasons Durutalo made 17 appearances, all starts, and helped the Seawolves reach their third Championship Final in 2022. He had previously played professionally in England with Worcester Warriors and Ealing Trailfinders, and starred with the Sunwolves in the 2016 Super Rugby campaign.

At international level Durutalo achieved USA honors in both sevens and 15s, winning 22 test caps between 2012 and 2018 and earning selection to the 2015 World Cup. More recently he earned his second Varsity Match ‘blue’ with Oxford University, having enrolled in their executive MBA program.
