Dallas signs top Argentine flanker prospect Jerónimo Gómez Vara

The Dallas Jackals have signed one of Argentina’s top prospects in flanker Jerónimo Gómez Vara. He makes the move to Major League Rugby after playing a prominent role with the Jaguares XV in the 2022 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) season.

Gómez Vara, who turns 22 in January, notably represented his country at the World Rugby Rugby u20 Championship while still eligible for u18s. He then captained the Pumitas in last year’s u20 series against South Africa, Georgia, and Uruguay. In October of 2021 the Atlético del Rosario product stepped up to the Argentina XV squad for the Americas Pacific Challenge.

At 6’3″ (1.90m) and 225lbs (103kg), Gómez Vara has the size and ability to play either flanker position. He is the fifth Argentine addition to the Jackals during the offseason, following front rowers Tomás Baravalle and Juan Pablo Zeiss, scrumhalf Pedro Imhoff, and outside back Marcos Moroni.
