Houston trade Argentine duo Zeiss and Moroni to Dallas

Houston have traded two of their Argentine contingent to Dallas. Tighthead prop Juan Pablo Zeiss and outside back Marcos Moroni will join a rebuilding Jackals side. In exchange the SaberCats receive salary cap considerations for the 2023 Major League Rugby season.

Zeiss, 33, proved one of the best front rowers in MLR during his first campaign in the North American competition. The 7-time Pumas international played 14 games for the SaberCats, anchoring the scrum and contributing strongly in the loose with his ball carrying and punishing defense.

Moroni also impressed but had limited opportunities due to the presence of several South African backs on Houston’s roster. A former World Sevens Series standout, the 27-year-old made 7 appearances with his game time split between the left wing and fullback.

The moves will see Zeiss and Moroni joining a restructured Dallas dominated by Argentine influence. All new appointments include Santiago Sodini as General Manager and Agustín Cavalieri as the new Head Coach. Former Pumas supremo Mario Ledesma and ex-Rosario coach Willie Blanco are also on staff.
