London Irish have signed Argentine hooker Ignacio Ruiz. The move sees the 21-year-old Pumas rookie leaving Argentina to play in England. The contract begins with immediate effect. Ruiz joins four other Pumas at London Irish.

Ruiz made his test debut against Scotland in July. He was a replacement in the series deciding victory in Santiago del Estero. He also played in the November Internationals, featuring from the bench in Los Pumas win over England in London in addition to playing against Wales and Scotland.

Ruiz was a replacement for Julián Montoya and Agustín Creevy. The former is an English champion with the Leicester Tigers and the later will now be Ruiz’ teammate in the English Premiership. London Irish is also home to Pumas center Lucio Cinti, loose head Facundo Gigena and flanker Juan Martín González.

González is a former teammate of Ruiz at Los Jaguares XV. González moved to London Irish to begin his professional career abroad last season. Ruiz remained in Argentina and played the 2022 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). Ruiz is a native of Buenos Aires and product of Regatas de Bella Vista (URBA).
