San Diego signs former Sunwolves back Alex Horan

The San Diego Legion have added another back to their roster for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. Alex Horan arrives from Australia, having previously played with the Sunwolves in Japan. He is the son of former Wallabies great and current television pundit Tim Horan.

A flyhalf or center, Horan started one game for the Sunwolves before the 2020 Super Rugby season was cancelled due to the pandemic. He had previously turned out with the Canberra Vikings and Brisbane City in Australia’s National Provincial Championship. Since the demise of the Sunwolves, Horan had been working in commercial real estate while playing for the University of Queensland.

The 25-year-old joins an impressive collection of backs at the Legion. Among those already signed up are Josh Henderson, Will Hooley, Luke Burton, and Ma’a Nonu. Center pair Tiaan Loots and Thomas Morani have stayed in San Diego but are yet to be confirmed by the club for the new season.
