England earned their spot in the World Cup Final with a hard-fought victory over Canada at Eden Park on Saturday. It sets up a rematch of the 2017 tournament finale, won by New Zealand in Belfast, while Canada will take on France in the Bronze Final.
Things did not go to plan for England, who were heavily favored prior to the match. The fully-professional side had won a record 29 consecutive games heading in. Canada, comprised of semi-pro or amateur players, were also in strong form with an 8-game winning streak of their own.
For the first 15 minutes it seemed as though the Red Roses would run away with the result, but an inspired Canada pushed back and threated until the final whistle. Below are video highlights of what turned out to be one of the great World Cup Semi Finals in recent history.
