Old Glory signs Canadian international Gradyn Bowd

Old Glory DC have added another Canadian to their books. Gradyn Bowd has signed on for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. It’s the first professional contract for the 30-year-old flyhalf.

Originally from Red Deer, Alberta, Bowd played for Canada at u20 level before making his test debut in the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship. He won 8 caps through 2017 but was then left in the international wilderness for five years before earning a recall to the test side in July.

Bowd joins returning internationals Luke Campbell and Doug Fraser in DC. The club also acquired former Canada u20 prop Cali Martinez as the 3rd-overall selection in this year’s Collegiate Draft. Jake Ilnicki was on the team’s roster this past year but has yet to be confirmed for 2023.
