Uruguay get a taste of Amaya for November Tour

A late addition has been made to Los Teros roster for the upcoming November tour to Europe. Uruguay will begin their tour against Georgia on Sunday, November 06 and do so with Baltazar Amaya added to the roster.

A stand-out performer for Peñarol, Amaya offers depth to the outside backs and to the mid-field. Whether he is playing at fullback, wing or in the centers, Amaya is a player that adds to Uruguay’s attacking threats.

The roster contains three names considered mid-field specialists in Juan Manuel Alonso, Felipe Arcos Pérez and captain Andrés Vilaseca. Nicolás Freitas moves between center, and wing depsnding on the needs of the team, while and the uncapped Juan Zuccarino is included as an option for center and fly half.

There are minimal options in the outside backs. With just three on the initial roster it appeared that Freitas was selected to play wing. He and veterans Gastón Mieres, and Rodrigo Silva were the only names included for wing and fullback. Amaya and Freitas mean there are four with Alonso possibly also being considered.

Los Teros will begin their test series against Georgia in Tbilisi on November 6. They then travel to Bucharest to play Romania for a third time this year on November 13 Their final opponent will be Tonga, also in Bucharest, on November 19.
