Argentina Suffer Double Blow Ahead of Facing England

Argentina have suffered a double blow ahead of facing England. Two veteran players have been ruled out of the opening match of the tour to the UK this month. One player has been called-up as a replacement.

Winger Santiago Cordero will miss the match as will scrum-half Tomás Cubelli. No replacement has been called-up for Cordero but Lautaro Bazán Vélez joins the roster covering scrum-half. Bazán Vélez  made his test debut for Argentina against Scotland in July.

Argentina are set to have another scrum-half debuting against England on Sunday. The uncapped Eliseo Morales is expected to be on the bench with Gonzalo Bertranou starting.

With Cordero missing there may be a first cap of the year for Mateo Carreras. The possibility also exists for the uncapped Martín Bogado to feature. Additional wings on Michael Cheika’s roster are regular starter Emiliano Boffelli and Bautista Delguy.
