Josh Syms named Old Glory DC’s new Head Coach

Old Glory DC have appointed Josh Syms as their new Head Coach ahead of the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 42-year-old New Zealander takes over from Nate Osborne, who held the position in an interim capacity following the departure of Andrew Douglas half-way through the 2022 campaign.

Syms has held several coaching positions since retiring as a player in 2005. He was Head Coach of Wairarapa Bush in the Heartland Championship before joining Hawke’s Bay in the National Provincial Championship as Forwards Coach in 2018.

This past year saw Syms promoted to Head Coach of the Magpies, leading them to a Quarter Final appearance. Toronto Arrows Forwards Coach Francisco Deformes was an assistant under him at Hawke’s Bay. Syms has also been a contributor to The Rugby Site, a prominent online coaching resource.
