Stephen Hoiles returns to Australia to coach Randwick

Stephen Hoiles will not be staying in Major League Rugby. The now-former LA Giltinis Head Coach has returned to his native Australia to take over the lead role with Randwick in Sydney’s Shute Shield.

After acting as an assistant for Darren Coleman during the victorious 2021 campaign, Hoiles guided the Giltinis back from a turbulent start to the 2022 season to finish with an 11-5 record. The team went 9-2 after Week Five including a seven-game winning streak, despite being without star players Angus Cottrell and Matt Giteau throughout.

Hoiles is well acquainted with Randwick. He played over 100 games for the club, winning the Shute Shield in 2004. The 41-year-old won 16 caps for the Wallabies as a loose forward and then acted as an Assistant Coach for Australia’s Sevens team before making the move to LA.
